‘Behind Bars’ – Lamp
The BEHIND BARS lamp is a literal allegory to a life behind bars. A rigid and regulated outside with a warm light on the inside, representing life, hope and ambition. The production process demonstrates the path from a simple wooden board to a complex structural design object, showing them how to create something intricate in little steps. By the means of a personal wood treatment the inmates are also invited to compose their own personal view of their time behind bars.
Lamp rewarded at a design competition for products to be produced by inmates in the workshop of a Luxemburgish prison.
The realization of this product is part of an initiative to prepare and reintroduce inmates into the professional working world.
The project is initiated by ‘Défi-job’ and are commercialized under the label ‘Jailbird’.
